Not just business people support this effort.  Conservationists and preservationists do too.  Daylighting the Saw Mill River will return downtown Yonkers to its historic and natural heritage.

Groundwork Hudson Valley led by Rick Magder, with support from Ann-Marie Mitroff, has been an integral adviser to the City to help design an ecologically sustainable park, true to history but also a place where children can learn about a tidal river bed.  Final designs include various river beds within the park, which will demonstrate the ecological diversity of our natural river system – so long covered up by a parking lot.

Scenic Hudson led by Ned Sullivan, also played a key role, acting as a catalyst during the Pataki administration and now assists in the quest for funding.

Yonkers Committee for Smart Development, led by Terry Joshi, is working with our group as part of its core mission, which is to further development that blends architecturally and aesthetically with Yonkers’ existing historic downtown.
